LAURESHA Z. HAWKINS
Founder, CEO, & Clinical Director

MEET YOUR LCSW

I’m Lauresha Hawkins, a Public Health Licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than 15 years of experience across clinical and community settings. I bring a deep, firsthand understanding of the systems surrounding my clients’ lives: insurance plans, managed care organizations, hospitals, residential treatment, community resources, family relationships, trauma, and, for some, faith.

I see the whole person. I meet each client where they are and work alongside them as they define what healing and restoration mean in their own life.

My clinical work focuses on adolescents, transitional age youth, and adults navigating mood disorders, trauma, anxiety, OCD, and life’s complex transitions. I earned my Master of Social Work from the University of Southern California in 2015, specializing in Families and Children, and my Master of Public Health from Claremont Graduate University in 2025.

My public health research focused on interventions for Black maternal mental health and the systemic conditions contributing to maternal health inequities. That work continues to shape my belief that meaningful care must account for both a person’s inner experience and the realities of the world around them.

I founded Mental Wellness University, Licensed Clinical Social Worker Inc. to educate, empower, and inspire lifelong healing through compassionate care, clinician development, and stronger connections across the communities we serve.

Healing is a Forever Journey™.

The Therapy You Didn't Know You Needed, LLC is a transformative podcast co-founded and co-hosted by Lauresha Z. Hawkins, LCSW, MSW, MPH and Malaysia G. Davis, visionary founder of Lays Golden Kidz and The Brunch Book Klub, LLC.

Together, they have created a space where honest conversations become catalysts for healing, self-discovery, and meaningful change.

Through authentic storytelling, Lauresha’s clinical insight, lived experiences, and unfiltered dialogue, they challenge listeners to examine the beliefs, behaviors, and patterns that often shape their lives without conscious awareness.

Rooted in the belief that education is an essential part of healing, the podcast seeks to dismantle the stigma surrounding mental health while fostering emotional intelligence, accountability, resilience, and personal growth. Every episode is an invitation to think more deeply, feel more honestly, and embrace the lifelong journey of becoming the healthiest version of yourself.

These are the conversations many people have never been taught to have—but desperately need. Whether exploring relationships, trauma, family dynamics, boundaries, culture, grief, identity, or everyday life, The Therapy You Didn't Know You Needed creates a courageous space where vulnerability is met with compassion, difficult truths become opportunities for growth, and healing begins through understanding.

Because sometimes, the therapy you didn’t know you needed may just start with a conversation.
